Akiko Kino

A long-time resident of Tokyo, Akiko Kino has lived in the States for nearly three years. She has had shows in Japan and Liechtenstein, and is now pleased to show her work in Seattle. Her use of a knife instead of a brush to apply paint gives her paintings texture and dimension that you'll want to see in person to truly appreciate.

Akiko's goal on the canvas is to express:

  • Lightness and darkness
  • Ugoki (movement) and nagare (flow)
  • Atmosphere
  • Chi (life force)

She adds, "I find myself happy when the energy I put into my art comes through in spiritual energy of the finished product."
